i just left voicemail for a few friends of mine i haven't spoken to in way to long, probably about 8 months. i hope they call me back. i was being a hermit for awhile there because things weren't going perfectly for me. i have a habit of hiding from everyone and everything when i feel vulnerable. (i'm sposed to be supper corinne darn it) when i got that dealt with it was just hard to reestablish contact ..... "i'll call tomorrow" turned into "i'll call next week" turned into "it's too late to call". but i finally found the nerve. maybe they'll answer me, i hope so. jase is the first person who bothered talking to me at school, aside from my roomates and the people who are paid to be nice to freshman for the first few days. and if i have ever known one person destined for fame it's juliette. i'm still waiting for the day i'll turn on hbo comedy hour and see here there. even if they don't i feel better already tho. less like a jackass/chicken shit...ya know? sigh but i wish they would call.

i've found my moment again. i know i know, it's not a concrete object so that doesn't make much sense, but hear me out. the only moment that you can directly effect is the one you are in the middle of RIGHT NOW. you can worry about the past, but you can't change it. you can plan for the future and indirectly effect it but there are other variables involved and you can't see all of them yet. all you can do anything about is this very second, this moment, this now. i'd forgotten that for awhile. i wasted who knows how many moments lamenting the past and trying to plan out every minute detail for the future so the slightest change in my plans spun me out of control. i'm not wasting any more moments though. i've found my now.

inserting a straw into a box of joe from dunkin donuts and proceeding to not share may not be the wisest choice i've ever made. but i have to say that it's one of the more intesting ones. it's not not a good thing when one's hands shake, but it is a good thing when one opens all the boxes, shelves 5 sections, and sells $400 worth of stuff.....so i guess i'll take the shakey hands. or i'll try to find a way to capture that state of mind without all the coffee. because, to be blunt about it, that much coffee that quickly might as well be speed except for the fact that coffee is legal (and probably cheaper, not that i'd know i get into enough trouble with coffee and the ocational vivrin/no-doze thank you very much.). it's not healthy. i'm eventually going to have to stop.

i'm sending my dad a v. cool surprise and he doesn't know what it is yet, i love surprising people.

i have a new extended motto/mantra/what have you. i don't care if you think it's cheesy, i know it is. it also works, tho, so shush.

you cannot control how the world sees you.
you can always control how you see the world.

you cannot control what tasks are before you.
you can always control how you do them.

you cannot control what kind of people you interact with.
you can always control how you react to them.

you cannot control the world.
you can always control yourself.

got back recently from a week in manhattan catsitting and a week back home, in wilson, at my dad's house with my guy. it was surreal to see the town with an outsider. he kept asking why i had so many "neighbor encounters". the town he grew up in didn't encourage friendlyness, i guess. got to see my friend since story hour - beth - which was great. longest time i've spent in the company of her husband but unfortunately since beth and i were both talking inscesantly neither he nor phil got a word in edgewise, really. they were both good sports till then end when gavin started playing w/ his watch and phil started tapping sos in morse code on my knee under the table. last year i'm doing the hotdog stand w/ my dad. i'll miss it, i think. won't know what to do w/ myself on memorial day, that's for darn sure. as always, i didn't spend enough time w/ my mom. she has many cats and phil's alergic. my dad has cats, too, but deb vaccums more than my mom does. mom's cats are scared of the vaccume, i think. i did get to see both my grammas this time, and my cousins who i didn't see last time i was home, which was a very good thing. and phil seemed to get along with everyone a little better this time, also a very good thing. it was surreal from my end hanging out with phil with my friends, though. i tend to be one of the guys...which is harder with your boyfriend in toe i must say. all in all a good visit. a good vaction. unfortunately, it's back to the old grind.
